UK-AFRICA SANDBOX
TECH IMMERSION PROGRAMME
Structured market entry for UK technology companies exploring Africa’s leading innovation markets.
The UK-Africa Tech Immersion connects selected UK technology companies with African markets through curated preparation, stakeholder engagement and in‑market immersion.
An initiative run by V54 Open Impact, the nonprofit arm of Ventures 54, funded by the UK Government’s, UK South Africa Tech Hub and supported by Grow London powered by London & Partners.
Successful market entry requires preparation, partnerships and engagement.
African markets present significant opportunity, but entering a new market requires more than a single visit - it depends on local context, trusted networks and sustained, structured engagement over time.
The UK–Africa Tech Immersion provides a structured three phase pathway that helps founders move from early market understanding through to meaningful in-market engagement.
Market Clarity
Understanding the realities of a new market is the first step to engaging it effectively.
Through market orientation sessions, ecosystem insights and market snapshot resources, founders gain a grounded understanding of local industries, regulatory considerations, ecosystem dynamics and where real commercial opportunities may exist.
These early engagements help founders refine their positioning and approach before engaging stakeholders directly.
Market Access
Once founders understand the landscape, the focus shifts to building the right relationships through curated introductions and industry office hours.
Founders engage directly with relevant corporates, investors, ecosystem operators and government stakeholders to test their propositions, gain practical insight and explore where partnerships or follow-on engagement might make sense.
These sessions help surface the connections that can unlock long-term opportunities.
In-Market Immersion
For selected companies, the programme culminates with founders traveling for in a structured in-market immersion week.
They meet corporates, investors and ecosystem leaders through curated meetings, roundtables, events designed to deepen relationships and explore commercial pathways.
The goal is not simply to visit the market, but to build the right foundation for ongoing engagement and collaboration.
